INHERITANCE
Director Kris Kristensen's unconventional horror film is not so much scary as it is simply unsettling. The thriller finds a young woman, Abbey, taking care of the elderly Mrs. Baker, who claims to converse with ghosts. When the old woman dies, she leaves everything to Abbey, including, apparently, her spirit. And therein lies the twist: Is Abbey simply going crazy, or is she really posssessed by the spirit of a horny old lady? Seattle director Kristensen and screenwriter Bran McDonald thankfully take the high ground and craft a film that relies on intelligence and imagination rather than cheap humor and obvious scares. |
